DIY Frozen Postpartum Pads

After you give birth to that perfect little bundle of cuteness, there are a few things that will feel absolutely blissful to your body.

One of those things is frozen postpartum pads to comfort your swollen, healing hoo-ha. She’s done a lot. And honestly, she needs a raise. But until then, let’s give her some much-needed chilled-out attention and comfort.

If you want some frozen pads that are ready to break and put into place, these little beauties are where it’s at.

But if you want to prep your own and put ’em in the freezer ’til you’re ready to grab ’em… here’s the plan.

This is what you’ll need:

Postpartum pads
Witch hazel spray
Aluminum foil or wax paper
Freezer bags

  1. Grab your extra-long postpartum pads and open them up. If your pads have wings, open those up too (and save that little paper piece that covers the sticky parts of the wings).
  2. Spray a good layer of witch hazel over the entire length of your pad.
  3. Fold the wings back over (if your pads have them).
  4. Place a piece of aluminum foil or wax paper over your pad so that when you fold it over, it won’t freeze to itself.
  5. Give it a “see you soon”, and put it in the freezer.

When You’re Ready to Use Your Frozen Hoo-Ha Pad

You can try going straight from the freezer to your southern regions. But if it feels a little too frigid, set it aside for a couple of minutes and then put it in place.

The cold will help with swelling and discomfort. The witch hazel will soothe and comfort all the amazingness your privates have been through.

(Bonus: If you also want to soothe hemorrhoids and a sore booty hole, try these Tucks pads. These were my best friends. Fold one in half and tuck it in close to your booty hole while your pad is also giving you some much deserved comfort. Follow the instructions on the container.)

And remember: you are incredible. Everything you’re going through is nothing short of beautiful and sacred. You are wonderful, and everything you’re doing is good enough.

Keep going. It just gets better and better.

Happy healing and so much love!
